Switzerland coach Ottmar Hitzfeld says he has one eye on the Spanish team and will keep on eye on the Spain vs Chile while hoping to defeat today’s opponents, Honduras.
Hitzfeld’s side are third in Group H, level on points with second-placed Spain and three points behind leaders Chile. Switzerland can go through with a draw but only if Spain are beaten.
Hitzfeld will send the Swiss out to rack up goals against Honduras, in order to boost their goal difference, but he says he will be fully informed as to the score in Pretoria, and will alter his tactics accordingly.
“I will be well informed about what is happening in Pretoria,” he said. “It could be that I will modify my tactics depending on the score. I feel that anything can happen that game.”
Honduras have lost both games in the tournament so far, to Chile and Spain, and Hitzfeld is hoping his team can take advantage of their leaky defence.
He added: “They have moments of confusion in defence and we have to take advantage of that.”
