Dunga said that Brazil’s 2-1 loss to Netherlands will be his last game as a coach for the seleção.
Brazil were ahead during the first half with Robinho’s 10 minute goal but the score was leveled just after half time when Felipe Melo scored an own goal and then the Seleção fell apart when Wesley Sneijder scored a goal to make it 2-1 for the Dutch side.
Brazil topped Group C and made it to the last 16 with Portugal and they defeated Chile 3-0 but their dreams of adding the World Cup to their 2007 Copa America and 2009 Confederations Cup victories ended when the Dutch fully destroyed the team during the second half of the game.
The coach, who was appointed in 2006, enjoyed and maintained his 4 year reign at the heir and did not shift from that perspective during the interview about Friday’s defeat.
Melo, who is mostly blamed for Brazil’s exit on Friday, said: “There’s no way I’m the villain of the 2010 World Cup. It was a collective mistake. When I was sent off, it was already 2-1… I accept my share of the blame. I apologise to the Brazilian fans because we wanted to be world champions and it didn’t work out.”
Goalkeeper Julio Cesar, who was also blamed for not clearing Sneijder’s strike, admitted that Brazil were notcontemplating possible defeat when facing Netherlands.
“It’s not the end of the world,” Cesar said. “I just think now we have to leave with our heads held high. In Brazil people always put a lot of pressure on us. This was a result no one expected. Every game Brazil enters, we enter to win.”
