Portugal & Brazil drew 0-0 but they were through to the last 16 in a match at Durban Stadium in one of South Africa’s city, Durban.
Brazil was already through and even if they lost to Portugal they are still through to the last 16. Portugal just needed a win or a draw to secure a place in the last 16 and their second place spot in Group G.
Carlos Quieroz insisted that the match contained plenty of excitement during their encounter with the South American team.
He said: ” I think it was a football feast, it was a great show. Brazil played strongly during the first few minutes but after their period of domination, my team started to control the game.
Portugal progressed from the Group stages 1 point in front of 3rd place Ivory Coast – whose 3-0 win wasn’t ever enough to send them through to the last 16 with Brazil.
However, Samba coach Dunga wasn’t happy with his national side.
” Brazil always play to win and my side tried their best to attack to the end. Portugal wasn’t like us, they wanted to defend. ” He said. ” My squad sacrificed themselves to the end. ”
The match in Durban failed to be a thrilling encounter between Brazil and Portugal. Brazil now face another South American side Chile while Portugal was unlucky, as they will make a date with Spain on the 30th of June.
