Cote d’Ivore’s World Cup hopes are now over. They won 3-0 but they have failed to qualify as they finished in 3rd with a point behind second-placed Portugal – who have qualified after a 0-0 draw with Brazil.
Sven-Goran Eriksson’s side came into the match needing a win and hope that Portugal loses to Brazil just to qualify, but eventually they failed to do so.
Goals from Yaya Toure (Barcelona), Romaric and Salomon Kalou (Chelsea) put their team in a 3-0 lead in the match. The players were also hoping that if Brazil beat Portugal, they are through – but they didn’t.
Eliminated teams from Group G were Cote d’Ivore & DPR Korea, finishing 3 and 0 points respectively.
