UEFA Europa League Quarterfinals Draw For EPL Clubs

Interest in the UEFA Europa League quarterfinals draw is understandably low despite the size of it as most of the teams involved would hardly stir the imaginations of football fans. But after a week of amazing comebacks, incredible goals and highscoring draws, the competition should now get some marks for entertainment value and definitely quality football. And two English Premier League clubs are still involved all the excitement, with Fulham and Liverpool making their mark with inspiring matches that led to comebacks and drama. Fulham definitely led the way as they dominated the headlines in dumping big favourites Juventus out of a competition that many pipped them to win. It was also the same at Liverpool although they were still the favourites overall and managed to avert disaster by having their fearsome duo of Gerrard and Torres rip Lille apart to go through quite comfortably in the end.

Fulham have been rewarded in the UEFA Europa League quarterfinals draw with a matchup against German Bundesliga champions VfL Wolfsburg. The first leg will be played at Craven Cottage and this time the Cottagers will need to make sure they get a good result at home as they have never been good away from home. Unfortunately this does look the end of the fairy tale for them but still nothing must be taken away from Fulham as they have definitely made their fans and the EPL proud with their results.

Liverpool will be playing their UEFA Europa League quarterfinals first leg away at Benfica and have the benefit of the second leg at home again. With inconsistency being their only consistent facet this season, it is hard to predict how this one will turn out. Liverpool remain the biggest name left in the competition although the likes of Valencia, Hamburg and Atletico Madrid are still around.
