Robbie Keane To Move To Aston Villa?

Despite claims from Spurs that club captain Robbie Keane will return to the North London club after his loan stint with Celtic, there are fresh rumours that the Irish international striker could in fact be the target of a swoop from Aston Villa in the summer. Valued at £9 million by Spurs, Keane will not be affordable for the Scottish Premier League club at that price. However, Villa boss Martin O’Neill is a known admirer of the Spurs forward and could sell Habib Beye, Steve Sidwell and Nicky Shorey in order to fund the move for Keane, who has endured much humiliation in recent times after his move to Liverpool that was aborted after just 6 months at Anfield.

However, the striker seems to be undergoing a successful rehabilitation at Celtic Park after scoring 8 goals since joining them for a 6 month loan from February 1. To show how far he has gone down in the valuation by Spurs manager Harry Redknapp, Keane could not even get a game while previously derided Russian striker Roman Pavlyuchenko was kept on by Redknapp and is now leading the line together with Jermain Defoe.

If Aston Villa are to successfully qualify for the Champions League next season, the English Premier League live club would certainly have a sizable transfer fund to work with and that could go to signing Robbie Keane on. It could then set up a little man- big man strike partnership with one of the two between Agbonlahor and Jon Carew. Exciting days indeed ahead for the Villa Park faithful.
